As owner of Hoaganie (Ha-Gain-ee) Farms LLC, a Teaching Farm just outside of College Station, Texas, P. Wade Ross is a fourth-generation farmer, on 120 acres, that was purchased in the late 1800s by his great grandfather, Jack Ross, a former runaway slave.
P. Wade’s father, W. Wade Ross, (who was born and raised on Grandpa Jack’s land) established the Texas Small Farmers & Ranchers Community- Based Organization in 1998…. After initially serving as Educational Director, P. Wade accepted the role of Chief Executive in 2020, to help keep the mission of serving Black Growers and landowners in East Texas moving
forward.
P. Wade Ross and Texas Small Farmers & Ranchers/CBO are currently prioritizing natural soil health and the development of streamlined pathways that enable Black producers to participate profitably in local food
procurement.
